From the President
In 2015, AMPD has bolstered its efforts to bring high quality programs, projects, and initiatives to Muslim professionals in the rapidly expanding Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area. Our membership has grown to reach all four corners of the metroplex including Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, and Denton counties. With the steady growth of our membership, our Executive Team's top goals for 2015 are two-fold: greater committee member and Advisory Board engagement in quarterly AMPD events, which aim to elevate the professional experience for Muslims in DFW. As a grass-roots organization committed to diversity in all levels of leadership and membership, we sincerely appreciate the support, encouragement, and enthusiasm of our AMPD members!
Additionally, the AMPD Executive Team has started planning for AMPD's inaugural Elevation Gala 2015 where we will be recognizing the contributions of our members, leaders, and community supporters, as well as sharing our organizational plans for the near future insha'Allah. Please stay tuned for additional details announcing the official October date for an event you do not want to miss!
From the Programming Committee
Our inaugural"Building Block for Professional Success" entitled The Interview, was centered on two areas: the resume and subsequent interviews - regardless of industry and experience level. Esteemed guests: recruiters, division VPs and mid-level managers shared their experiences about what works and what stands out. We also hosted a networking activity and live interview where our members had the opportunity to network and expand their contact base in a relaxed atmosphere.

From the Community Service Committee
On Sunday, March 8, 2015, AMPD volunteers provided support to Masjid al Islam for their "Feeding Our Legacy" Program. Masjid al Islam regularly serves food to the homeless population in the downtown Dallas area. In an effort to join the National "Feed Their Legacy" initiative, AMPD volunteers also donated ready-to-serve food items for the program participants. AMPD volunteers helped serve more than 100 people from the local community.
The national "Feed Their Legacy" initiative was inspired by the Chapel Hill shooting victims. The initiative, asking Muslim Americans to respond to hate with kindness, has resulted in 287 food drives in 35 states across the US. The initiative wrapped up its state-wide food drive competition on March 27, 2015 and surpassed its goal to collect 100,000 canned food. To date, the initiative has collected 172,612 cans and raised $21,620 for the use of local communities across the US. AMPD is honored to have been a part of this noble campaign.
